What is Gummed Paper?
Gummed paper is paper with a gum adhesive backing that allows one to create attractive label products for a variety of purposes. Gum paper requires water to activate the adhesive and it is manufactured with either dry gum adhesive or dextrine gum adhesive, which is a shiny stronger gum. Once the adhesive is activated the paper will adhere to the item to be labeled. Gummed paper offers a lower cost alternative to pressure sensitive, and the paper adheres well to all types of surfaces from glass to cardboard. Gummed paper also comes in heat seal, which is a heat activated adhesive.
